In order to heat water, there is a requirement of loads of energy. A solar water heating system utilizes solar energy to heat the water, and hence, is economical than another source of energy. Many plans and guidelines are made by India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE to install solar water heating systems in houses as well as at buildings. There are certain calculations included in the guidelines like for bathing purpose a person will require 20 liters of hot water and for other common usage water will require around 30 liters per person. These stats can increase up to 25% if they are done for a community where there are a number of houses and flats. Ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) also suggests a shade free installation area after every three or four meters. Anyway, there are many more factors which may affect this like usages of long piping for the transfer of hot water and consumption of more amount of hot...

Surat was the first city in India where it was made compulsory to use solar water heating system for hot water in all residential apartments and houses. In the starting of this year, our Union urban development ministry has taken adequate and necessary actions to modify and change the houses so that it becomes fit for solar water systems in all 58 cities to make it a solar city. The Surat municipal corporation (SMC) is going to take necessary actions to modify the houses and construct it in such a way that solar water systems can be installed in each and every 10.2 lakh houses and 65,000 buildings present out there. Anyway, solar water heating in only a small step made in Surat, to make it a solar city. There are many more activities going on like installing solar panels in producing electricity and replacing all normal street lights to CFLs and tube lights. The aim is to use all sorts of renewable sources of energy so that the use of a conventional source gets reduced by 10 to 15 percent in the next five years. Even SMC has appointed a meeting with WISE (World Institute of sustainable energy) to point out the proper plans to install solar water heating...

Solar water heater converts solar energy into heat energy for making water warm. This can be achieved by using solar water heating panels instead of photovoltaic panels that convert heat energy into electrical energy. Use of Solar Energy for water heating is quite efficient, economical & pollution free method. A typical solar water heater consists of solar collector panels containing tubes or coils with water. They are placed in an area of abundant sunlight where it collects the Sun’s energy and transfers it to water for making it warm. For effective absorption of solar energy, the collector is made with black color & is properly insulated. There are two types of System. One is called Passive and another is Active. In a passive system, natural circulation is used for flow of water where water when gets hot, has a tendency to rise upwards and gets collected in a storage tank. While in Active system, forced circulation is used through an external pump, for hot water circulation. The solar water heater system works best in the sunny climate, but it doesn’t mean that it will not work in other climates. However efficiency may change accordingly. In cold climates, tubes are filled with non toxic antifreeze, to improve efficiency of the solar water heating system. Solar water Heaters can also be used as pre-heaters, and additional temperature can be achieved by using electric or gas water heater. This process saves a lot of money as the hot water heater does not have to increase as much temperature of the...

Solar water heaters are very essential for the people residing in India. The property dealers and owners seek to have different solar water heating system installed in the houses so that they can save expenditures for hot water purposes. Solar water heaters are gaining popularity as the utilization of solar energy to heat the water is a free of cost, renewable source of energy. Solar water heating system A solar power water heater can basically be categorized into “Active” and “Passive” systems. The Active system uses storage tanks, electric pumps, anti-freeze, reflecting mirrors and is more costly than the Passive one’s. An active system is most commonly used in areas where it is cold throughout the year, and the temperature rarely goes above 15 degrees. The passive system depends upon the natural tendency of hot water, to move up the pipes, and the warm water is collected in a tank situated above, they are suitable for most of the houses and demand less structural considerations. Suitability of solar water heating systems Solar water can be installed anywhere from where adequate amount of solar heat can be absorbed by the system like a terrace or rooftop. Appropriate system should be chosen to facilitate the benefits of solar water heating systems. Mainly they are of two types. Single system: These systems are used in apartments and complexes where they need excessive hot water. So, to satisfy the need of hot water, more energy is absorbed from the sun by the system. It has a large tank with many solar collectors connected to each other with the help of the pipe system. Individual or smaller system: These systems are used for a family or likewise, where the amount of hot water required is less. The advantage of this system is that each house in not forced to share hot water coming from one tank, but every house will have their own water heater. Installing solar water heater system It is very easy and simple to install a solar heater. Before installing the solar heater, the place should be planned so that maximum heat can be absorbed by the heater. PVC and water hose will be required for the flow of cold water to the system. Many more pipes will be needed which will supply hot water from the system to...

Solar Water Heater Companies in India to glow as Indian Cities (Surat, Kolkata) make SWH compulsory It’s pleasing to state that solar water heaters account for 30% of the total water heating market in our country and is growing at a steady pace of 15% annually. Due to the economic viability and cost effectiveness, the market of a solar water heater will see huge growth waves in the near future as compared to electric water heaters. Electricity and fuel prices have risen tremendously in the past few decades, and it is always a wise option to save them in order to save money. Solar water heater assists us in the same. It is widely used in hospitals, hotels and other commercial buildings where there is a requirement of large quantities of hot water. This market will get a further boost as more and more cities, and states are making it mandatory for every household and residential complex to install solar water heaters. India is a power deficient country and needs to use renewable and reasonable sources of energy. Solar Water Heater Market in India There is a huge scope for the growth of solar water heater in India. India is a big country that has a tropical climate and receives the sun all-around the year. Despite this fact still most of its potential remains unutilized. Karnataka and Maharashtra are the only two Indian states which have 90% of their homes installed with solar water heaters. The main user of solar water heaters is residential complexes and homes. Commercial entities are slow to switch to SWH. When compared with China, despite having a huge growth potential, India uses 10 times less SWH...
