Economists and market experts have anticipated that the solar water heater market is going to grow rapidly and generate profitable revenues in the next few decades. All this will happen due to rising living standards, corporate profit and income, stricter sustainability norms and technological advances which in turn will make solar water heaters more economical and efficient. A solar water heater system can provide ample amount of hot water for a family’s everyday use at no extra costs such as fuel, electricity and maintenance expenses. Despite so many advantages, it is surprising to know that only 1% potential of the solar water heater is in use. Very few residential buildings are equipped with solar heater facilities and are reaping its benefits. This industry had an unstable beginning, but was brought back to life by solar investment tax credits and federal banks providing loans for the initial setup at reduced interest rates and other benefits for people who install a solar water heater. The utilization and use of solar water heater is on a rise around the world due to its easy reliability, durability, cost savings and eco-friendliness. One exceptional example is China, where the use of solar energy to heat water has risen to 63.9 million square meters in 2012 at a tremendous growth rate of 10.7%. China being such a huge country with the world’s largest population has seen such advancements; other countries should model its plans and make this world a better and greener place to live. Residential and home installations account for more than 80% of the revenue collected by solar system manufactures and the wellbeing of this market completely determines the future of the solar industry. The industry was impaired during the last five years as a result of the decline in the number of residential houses and falling renovation rates. The decline in the number of new homes built created very few opportunities for solar water upgrades, which disfavored the existing homeowners to go for a solar thermal...

One of the cheapest way by which we can get hot water is by installing solar domestic water heater. It is also known as solar water heater only. It absorbs heat which is coming from the sun and transfers it to the water to make it hot. It is a cheaper way to get hot water because in other means you have to pay for it. How solar water heater works The water heater consists of a container which is painted black in color. The concept behind painting it into black is that black is a good conductor of heat and absorbs heat instantly. As soon as the container is warm, the water which is present in the container is also heated up. It is little time taking process but is efficient. In present scenario solar panels and solar cells are used for better performance. In the modified system there are many new things that are installed like insulated storage tanks, pumps, anti-freeze value and as well as solar heaters. The new system helps to heat up water in a faster way because it absorbs more heat from the...

Solar hot water system cost effective

Posted by on Jan 11, 2014 in Posts

There are a lot of expenditures which is related while heating hot water. A person will either use gas or diesel or any other combustible resource which is very costly and their price in increasing day by as the resources are going down in quantity. So to overcome this problem people from all over the world are opting to find an alternative method by which they can get hot water that too in minimum expenditure. The example of such method is solar thermal. It is an effective way by which a person can avail the facility of hot water free of cost as the energy which is used to heat water is coming from the sun. There is only one time installation charge in this process and a person can enjoy a hot water facility absolutely free. There is hardly any maintenance charge present in it as well. So in the long run it proves to be a better option. The solar hot water system contains three important parts. They are solar collectors which are used to trap the energy from the sun and use it to heat water, Solar tank which contains water that is needed to be heated And circulation system which helps to mobilize the water which is cold and to supply to different parts where required. Solar collectors are also known as solar panels. The panels are of two types Evacuated tube and flat plate. The main motive of collectors is to absorb the heat from the sun and pass it into the water to make it hot. It is preferred to have some measures to reduce the power consumption before switching to any alternative heating system. There are many ways which are present by which a person can reduce their monthly bills. For an example fixing leaky hot water is one of the efficient way by which money can be saved and new heating system purchase can be reduced. There is a sort of investment which has to be done for the installation of solar water heating system but in the long run it is beneficial and tax incentives and utility rebates help you to pay back the money rapidly. On the top of it solar thermal systems do not consume much electrical power to run the pumps, which are required to mobilize the hot water. The electronic controls and technology is very beneficial without any share use of current. It is capable to provide us hot water without any sort of damage done in the environment keeping it free from air, noise as well as water...

Is solar energy perfect from an environmental point of view?

Posted by on Jan 11, 2014 in Posts

The main advantage of using solar energy is that we can achieve our aim keeping our environment clean and tidy. It does not cause any sort of pollution by producing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. There is no residue of carbon content while using solar energy unlike fossil fuels While using solar energy it does not produce any kind of noise which can lead to noise pollution. For example wind turbines produce a lot of noise while turning the blades to produce electricity but with the help of solar energy we can get electricity without any noise of the blades. Since its application is to absorb the heat to utilize in different ways it does not have any waste and does not hamper the environment. Even solar energy has some disadvantages if we keep in view the environment because it is not available to us every time everywhere. But in the case of fossil fuels we can avail it whenever we want. So it is one disadvantage that solar energy has but is negligible keeping in mind that it does not hamper the environment. Here is some justification given that solar energy is not sheer perfect keeping in mind environment impact. As we all know that to harness solar energy there has to be machines and devices which are to be manufactured and transported. So for that purpose we need fossil fuels which emit carbon content. Therefore indirectly solar energy produces some carbon content. But it is not right to end up with the statement that more the solar panels is manufactured more carbon emission is taken place because once the panel is manufactured then it does not have any sort of emission and is beneficial in the long run. During the manufacturing process of photovoltaic panels cadmium and many other hazardous materials are used. The small amount of such material can do a lot of damage to the environment and it should be disposed and kept under surveillance. So there is a potential threat to the environment while manufacturing panels as well. We can even consider the fact that solar power plants demand a lot of space to produce energy in mass which leads to the shrinking for flora and fauna in the ecosystem. A lot of water is also required in order to cool the place where solar power plants are set. So it can even lead to water scarcity. So as we can see the demerits related to solar energy is indirect and clearly it can be told that it is a clean energy resource and should be...

Quick guide to solar hot water systems

Posted by on Jan 11, 2014 in Posts

Solar energy is not only used to produce electricity but it is also used to heat water. Water heating is possible by using solar energy with the help of solar water heating systems. It does not generate electricity and heats the water present in the tank directly. There are generally two types of systems by which we can heat up water. In one of the system pump is present to mobilize the water and to operate the pump electricity is required. A solar water system has mainly four parts. Water storage tank to store the water which is needed to be heated, solar thermal collectors which trap the heat of the sun and help to heat the water, interconnecting pipes which is used to mobilize hot and cold water and fluid systems that transfers the heat energy from the collector to the tank. It is always preferred to use solar water systems because it is a medium by which we can get hot water without spending a single penny and it reduces our monthly bills which is used to be spent only on hot water. The main advantage of this system is during the process of heating water it does not pollute the environment unlike fossil fuels. It does not produce any greenhouse gas which can affect our environment. With this facility we no more have to depend upon fossil fuels. Insulation values in a particular area determine the quantity of heat energy which is produced by a solar hot water system. Areas which are having more insulation value will be ideal for installation of such systems. Tropical areas are well suited to have such systems. There are certain factors which a person should keep in mind in order to have an idea of the cost for installing solar hot water systems in a particular region. Those factors are: 1) Efficiency 2) Electricity cost in that region per kWh 3) Cost of the solar hot water system 4) Availability of state and government subsidies 5) Maintenance charges required for the system Out of all solar hot water systems the most famous are the one which have evacuated tube system. The reason behind its popularity is that it can work and perform an operation adequately when temperature is below zero degrees Celsius and even under gray skies. Just like Spain and Israel each country should make it compulsory to install solar hot water systems in new houses as it has many benefits and its use is...
