Active systems can supplement standard water heaters
The Solar water heater systems are water heaters that work with the energy of the sun. They are constructed to be working with pumps or fans for gathering the heat, with no automated parts included in the system. Solar water heaters are around since the late 1800’s. From the early 1900, there has been a change and new ones are being used. For the past forty years, these renewable sources of energy have contributed a lot. They have solved many problems such as oxidation, rusting and the problem of shortage of hot water.
Contrast can be drawn between the two kinds of working solar heaters:
The active solar heaters are the heaters in which the heat collector protects it against cold conditions. These systems are called: Re-circulate, duct-down, duct-back, and heat exchange.
The re-circulate system:
The mechanism employs a pump, running electrically to canalize water through the container to avoid it from freezing. Some heat is employed to heat the moving water.
The duct-down system
This mechanism simply procures the water out of the container, which collects it, when the thermostat indicates the boiling point of water. But, if the electricity is low, then all the water is emptied down by the collector.
The duct-back system
This mechanism uses heat exchanging systems for the storage of drained water from the collecting device when it reaches the freezing point. Heat exchangers activate with a storage tank and help the water to advance to the actual water heater. The duct-back system has an electric running pump that works almost all the time. But, if it is not activated, the heat exchanger contains the hot water from the container and uses this water as the material for heating fluid to warm the water. The heat exchanger looses up to 10% of its heating efficiency.
The high temperature exchanging system
In this system, water does not come out from the collector when it comes near freezing. The heat exchanger, which is present in the system, takes the help of an oily fluid whose job is to prevent freezing and helps to keep the water warm. In many systems compressed air also does the same job what this oily fluid does.
The solar water heater systems contain pumps and fans that help in heating up water and moving the water to different parts. So such systems need some sort of maintenance over a short period of time.
