Before the solar water heaters were very basic and used to take more time to heat up water but with time, the models of solar water systems modified, and now in the present scenario there are many tools and technologies available that facilitate in heating up water more quickly. The modern solar water is now user friendly, environment friendly and is very easy to operate. It is very cost effective, as well. Which is the best: solar energy or fossil fuel?

If we compare between solar energy and fossil fuels, there are many advantages of the former and that is why it is more preferred by everyone. Fossil fuels are not environment friendly. They produce harmful gases, and they are very costly as well because they are non renewable sources of energy, but solar energy is just opposite of these features. It is environmentally friendly, cost effective and renewable, as well.

•          Direct systems-these systems heat water directly. These systems are used where there is no frost and chemical content present in water is low.

•          Indirect systems-these systems heat water with the help of heat exchange system. These systems are used where there is frost and chemical content present in water is high.

There are mainly two types of water storage tanks present in the market.

•          Pumped storage- This type of tank is situated away from the solar panel and the tank is not visible.

•          Thermo siphon storage- This type of tank is located above the solar panel and water is mobilized by natural process. It is used in the places where the roof of the house can bear the weight of the tank.
